kitchen island lighting How to Install Lighting In a Room With No Overhead Lights
In rooms that do not contain overhead lighting, floor lamps and desk lamps can be used.Their downside is that the light they provide is usually limited to a fairly small area and requires a lot of lights in the room.Mounting hanging lamps on the ceiling can provide light for larger areas of the room. You can install the fixture yourself, but you will need to hire an electrician to connect it to your electrical box in your home.Select the ceiling area where you want to place the light fixture.Choose a place that will meet your needs. For example, if the fixture is intended to provide light for the entire room, place it near the center of the ceiling. If you want to provide more light for an area, such as on a table or kitchen island, place the light fixture in that area.Locate the ceiling support beam in the area with the stud finder because the electrical box hung by the fixture will be attached to the side of the support beam.Lean the ceiling electric box against the ceiling, where the fixture is installed and the outline of the box is tracked.Cut a hole in the ceiling with a drywall saw.Place an old-Lean the electric box against the wall, between the two bolts, where you want to install the light switch.Track the box on the wall and cut a hole with a drywall saw.Draw an imaginary line between the ceiling hole and the wall hole, along which a small hole is cut at the edge of the ceiling. The hole should be big enough for your hands.Put the end of the electrician fish belt into the hole on the wall.Feed the fish to the hole where you cut into the ceiling. When you continue to feed the fish line, ask the assistant to point the fish belt to the hole in the ceiling.Connect the cable to the end of the fish belt and roll the cable through the ceiling and wall into the hole of the light switch and then separate the fish belt.Slide the end of the cable over the elimination hole on the ceiling box, then place the ceiling box inside the ceiling, nail or screw to the side of the ceiling beam.Remove the 2 inch cable sheath that extends from the ceiling with a pair of stripping pads. There are three wires inside the cable: black (hot) wire, White (neutral) wire and bare copper (ground) wire.Peel off an inch of insulation from a black and white wire with a peel.Use pliers to twist the tip from the cable to the black wire from the light fixture to the tip of the black wire.(When you do this, let an assistant hold the fixture.) Place a wire nut at the end of the wire and twist it several times. The wire nut acts as an insulator while keeping the wire connected together.Connect the white line in the cable to the white line in the fixture, and the bare wire in the cable to the green line in the fixture.Raise the fixture to the ceiling. If the fixture is suspended from the chain, remove the link from the chain until the fixture is suspended from the desired height.Connect the fixture to the ceiling box with the mounting hardware provided by the manufacturer.Raise the canopy to the ceiling to cover the holes in the ceiling and screw it to the ceiling.Ask an electrician to connect the light switch and wires to the main electric box in your home. This is prohibited in most places from any unlicensed electrician because it is very dangerous.
